Pa O’Dwyer lifts the title of IVECO Ireland’s Strongest Man 2016
The ISA would like to congratulate Pa O’Dwyer on becoming the new IVECO Ireland Strongest Man and lifting the coveted Phil Richard’s Performance XVII Finn McCool trophy. Pa had a faultless performance and showed consistency in all of the events. This was the sign of a real champion.
This year from all of the qualifiers it was a tough call on who was going to come out on top but it was Pa “the Limerick Lion” O’Dwyer. At times Pa was untouchable in the events. This was shown by him winning 4 out of the 7 events in the contest. These included the To-me-to-you removals loading and push race, PWT tyre flip, the squat and the finale event of the stones of strength. He proved that not all the events need to be won to be the champion but consistency is the key. Last year’s champion Sean O’Hagan handled the pressure of being the reigning champion, by winning the Duck walk but could not stop the hungry lion from gaining his first All Ireland title so had to settle for 2nd Place.
The top 4 in this contest qualify for the UK Strongest Man which is in Belfast on the 25th-27th August 2016. Pa and Sean will be joined by 3rd and 4th placed, Jonathan Kelly of County Antrim and County Sligo’s Ivan Gannon. These men will make team Ireland. They will continue their pursuit to become the UK Strongest Man. All members and fans, come and support your own as they battle against the best in the UK. Tickets for this event can be purchased on: http://www.ultimatestrongestman.com
The ISA would like to congratulate and thank all the competitors, crew and spectators for putting on a memorable show. Also our sponsors because without them, the event would not have been possible.
