Matthew McCoy win Ireland’s Strongest Man 2020

First UK’s Strongest Man 2021 Tour 🇬🇧Qualifier for MK Stadium on 29th-31st May 2021 event was held in Bangor County Down.☘ A great competition and we thank Ards and North Down Borough Council for their support. The event was filmed for RTE 2, Ch5 and was live streamed on our page by one of our sponsors Cerberus.Congratulations to the new Ireland Strongest Man 2020☘ Matthew ‘The Real’ McCoy County Antrim.

A very dominate display from the Co.Antrim man, winning 2 out of 5 events including the Silver Dollar with a massive lift if 470KG! Which is one of the biggest lifts in Ireland. Also, proving again he is superhuman in the Deadlift Hold with a time of 1 minute 49 seconds, blowing away the rest of the field. From the outset he was there to win with a 2nd place in the sandbag carry with 63.55 metes to only be beaten by the future of Irish Strongman, Cillein Groom with 64.60 metres. He matched this performance in the dumbbell with a second place with 4 dumbbells in 46.60, but beaten by his nearest rival Matthew McKeegan with 4 in 42.28. With a comfortable lead going into the stones, Matthew McCoy wanted to put a show on for the crowd with only needing 4 stones to make sure of the title. He lifted a fast 4 stones and just ran out of time for the last stone to cap off his victory. The only man to finish was David Jones of Kilkenny with 5 in 54.91.However, when the whistle was blown he continued to finish off the run of stones to prove he was Ireland’s Strongest Man 2020! Matthew added this famous title to his U23 UK and Ireland Strongest Man Crowns and we are sure this is the start of Matthew moving on to bigger and better things in strongman.

He will be joining Matthew McKeegan Co.L/Derry and Ivan Gannon Co.Sligo in UK’s Strongest Man 2021🇬🇧.
